Relatively new to Lexington, Kentucky, Belisa Barrier earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Texas and her Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR). She went on to earn her Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) from the National Institute of First Assisting (NIFA) and her Master of Science in Nursing in Adult Gerontology and Acute Care from the University of Texas, becoming an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
I am an Adult-Gerontology, Acute Care, Nurse Practitioner with over 12 years of experience in perioperative and surgical nursing, including four years in neurosurgery and six years in Cardiothoracic and Cardiovascular surgery. Through this work, I’ve developed a strong foundation in managing patients with complex neurological needs, both during and after surgical procedures.
My background has prepared me well to support neurology patients, particularly in areas such as spine care, pain management, and critical care.
During my nurse practitioner training, I completed 720 clinical hours in intensive care settings and an additional 140 hours of Registered Nurse First Assist training in the operating room. I am licensed and proficient in first assist techniques, including retraction, suctioning, and suturing. I also have extensive experience performing ESP blocks and managing both acute and chronic pain—skills that are particularly beneficial in supporting neurology patients through recovery and rehabilitation.
I am excited to bring this experience to Lexington, Kentucky.
