Lauren Serey started as a registered nurse at Richmond VA Medical Center in 1986 (formerly Hunter Holmes McGuire Hospital). She was promoted to head nurse of the Cardiothoracic Transplant and Vascular Surgery Department. By 1989 she had been promoted to assistant nursing manager at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center (formerly Memorial Regional Medical Center) while also serving as the organ procurement coordinator for LifeNet Health.
In 1997 she relocated to Kentucky and worked in various Danville and Nicholasville, Kentucky hospitals.
In 2010, she became an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), also called Nurse Practioner, at Saint Joseph Health, working in heart health and neurology. Ms. Serey also worked at Albert B. Chandler Hospital, focusing on patients suffering from injuries and diseases of the pulmonary system in the ICU.
Ms. Serey has also worked in various jails around the commonwealth to keep inmates out of emergency rooms, as well as helping people with alcoholism and addiction. Ms. Serey was also the founder and CEO of BIO Essential Medspa from 2017-2023 while working as a Baptist Health Hospitalist in their various hospitals and clinics.
