Once treatment is approved, the patient’s prescription is shipped to their home with all the dosing instructions and products needed to proceed with treatment. It’s important to follow the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer and the pharmacy to ensure the medication is administered safely and effectively.

Self-administering Semaglutide or Tirzepatide offers patients the flexibility to take their medication according to their prescribed schedule, without the need for healthcare professional assistance for every dose. If you miss your dose for 2 weeks or more, take the next dose at your regular time.

What Are the Side Effects?

The most commonly reported side effect is weight loss. However, some have reported nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, or constipation. The rarest risks of serious effects increase in patients with hypoglycemia, kidney problems, and risk of allergic reactions. Semaglutide or Tirzepatide and Surgery?

We do have patients stop Semaglutide or Tirzepatide 2 weeks prior to surgery and they must have a clear liquid diet for 24 hours prior to surgery. This is due to the gastric emptying and anesthesia.
